I am writing, and you are perhaps reading, my latest post with a large blanket draped over my lap, an over-sized sweatshirt that has become one with my body, and an oscillating heater permanently set to max. When Pittsburgh begins to suffer single digit temperatures, I fall victim to the winter blues fairly quickly. Just an hour ago, we ventured out to pick up a few groceries and make a couple of late-holiday returns, and I still have that “real feel” 4 degree chill in my bones.
Not afraid to bundle-up, I have found peace in layering. Each morning, I have a quick, but brisk walk to work…a common-day mailman-woman of sorts venturing down the sidewalk in sun, rain, sleet and snow.
Determined to turn my winter-victim status to winter warrior, this season I have come with a travelers’ survival kit. I have nabbed a truly-cozy beanie, finally feel prepared with temperature-ready tech-gloves, and have two coats (in black of course) that I rotate based on the wind chill. My last item on my list? Snow boots. I’m still on the search for the perfect pair! (Comment below if you have a recommendation.)
