{Glam} How To: Rock A Look

May 14, 2013 in Glam: Style & Trends

Let’s shake up our wardrobes! Glam and Graffiti has featured the spring trend “tribal” a few times already this season. It’s everywhere. One tip to remember regarding working in new seasonal trends to your existing style is how devoted you will be to rocking the trend versus letting the trend rock you. This pattern is loud, but you don’t have to give in. I took this Nicole Miller knit dress and paired it with my Steve Madden studded boots, a Kate Spade quilted bag, and a Jupe Boutique geometric gold necklace.

Now, let’s get a closer look.

Yup, that is pretty rad. Let’s work it.13

I love the detailed green zipper on the back! Sportswear meets Glam.

As the Queen of the LBD, I have a tendency to first shop based on cut, design, and silhouette, instead of  mere likeness of the overall dress. The smallest and most daring details can make a word’s difference to not only how the dress looks overall, but how your body can work the dress.

This past summer muted pastels, soft sorbets, and pretty prints danced among many of our favorite designer’s clothing lines. They are coming back for more! Gearing-up for fall 2012, be ready to capture this season’s most vivid colors in amped-up versions of your spring/ summer trends.

High-octane color blocking, vibrant floral prints, edgy 20′s frocks, and denim, denim, and even more denim!

But, it will be the power of the silhouette that takes the stage.

I have always beleived that Nicole Miller, one of my all-time favorite Womens’ designers, has an astounding ability to create for a classic and edgy woman-on-the-go. Most rewarding to my held beliefs, this gorgeous printed dress is from the Artelier collection, which is designed for the versatile woman and is comprised of modern pieces with a twist. Known as the mother of the LBD, she escalates the drama of each dress by focusing on the silhouette, shape, and most importantly, how it will look on her customer.

“All we need is music, sweet music,

There’ll be music everywhere.
There’ll be swingin’ swayin’, and records playin,
Dancin’ in the street. “

{Graffiti} H&M/ Versace Collaboration, Printed in Papers Everywhere

November 23, 2011 in Graffiti: Arts & Culture, News

I know you have seen it. You have probably read the stories of the endless queues, filled with anxious and curious Fashionistas wrapped around the corners of H&Ms worldwide. Maybe you WERE one of those die-hard Fashionistas in the queue eagerly trying to get a sneak peek of the A-list launch party celebs and Donatella herself. Or, perhaps you are trying to avoid the weird, printed collection that keeps popping-up everywhere.

Despite how you have heard about it, Versace’s collaboration with H&M is what everyone has been talking about. What style, what brilliant designs, what stunning colors! But, the question is: a week later, now that it is making itself comfortable on the clothing racks, photographer’s light bulbs have disappeared, and the spotlight is slowly moving on to the next big thing…

…will you buy it?

This line is very specific to taste. Visiting the H&M on Regent Street in Piccadilly during my lunch break, the venue which hosted the mecca of the London launch, I stared at the window display as if it was a modern art exhibit…head tilted, my brow furrowed…trying to picture myself in such a loud and exuberant splash of colors of fringe, hearts, and silk.

This is fashionable. This is Donatella we are speaking of here…I should like it…

In the end, despite my immediate quizzical opinion on color choices, I have decided I do in fact like the line. Not specifically for how it is worked on the runway that seems to create a 90’s clash of exotic prints that makes my eyes water, but for each piece and how it can transform your everyday look. Wearing the bright colors certainly makes you forget that it is the start of winter season. The Miami prints are fun and perfect for a night out on the town!

Versace knows that wearing their collection from head-to-toe will not be how the average woman will choose to wear it. Donatella and H&M believe that this is an amazing opportunity to let every woman try Versace’s best looks at a more reasonable price for the same quality and design.

Interested in the collection, but hesitant about strutting it on the street? Take a look at the style advice below to start building that smart and sexy ensemble. Good luck!

These two eye-catching dresses are perfect by themselves. Bright and sexy, they are perfectly form fitting, designed to bring out your best features. I love the elegant embellishments on the pink and the edgy shoulders on the multi-color.

These pieces are my favorite by far. I love the studded detail and the intricate centered design.

Whether with a black mini or black jeans, I can’t wait to rock this on a night out.

The sleeveless shirt could be layered with a black blazer for a smart and stylish office look too.

.XOXO.
