What To Wear: Valentine’s Day

February 11, 2013 in Glam: Style & Trends

Photographer & Stylist: Stephanie Alexis | Make Up: Courtney D’Angelo

With Valentine’s Day this Thursday, Glam and Graffiti has prepared a quick how-to editorial of how to glam up for any V-Day plan. I matched 3 fabulous girls and 3 great looks! Whether they are going steady or going single, each of these love struck girls dressed for the occasion. Read on!

Who are do you relate to most this Valentine’s Day?

Model, Hilary wears a deep, maroon lace shift dress with romantic, yet edgy, black and gold jewelry. Her plans? Dinner with her long-time sweetie at the funky, new Asian fusion restaurant in town.

Honest, loving, and her best friend, her man is everything she could ask for! But, didn’t he say to be ready at 6 pm…sharp? Where is he?

“For added drama, I drew a sharp, thin cat eye. It emphasizes the beginning of the eye shadow too.” - Make-Up Artist, Courtney D.

Is that him?

It is! Bring on the sushi!

First Date Stomach filled with butterflies, model, Joyce can’t contain her excitement for her afternoon date with the cute boy she met at work. She wants to look put together, but fun and flirty for her first date. Cue the light pink lip gloss!

A lower high heel or boot can still kick up the charm while keeping it casual. Note: Both models sport the same raspberry red. The height of the dress and the country brown vs. the midnight black shoe shifts the mood of the outfit.

Girls just wanna have fun! Just because your Valentine’s Day doesn’t involve a scene filled with chocolates, teddy-bears, and a Taylor Swift love song, does not mean you can’t still go celebrate! Model, Laura chose to celebrate with a girls night out. This va-va-voom look was spiced up by a bright, red lip and a red hot heel to match!

 Ready to dance!

“I applied the red lip with a fine brush and kept adding on the layers! You want to make sure the pigment stays throughout the night till the last song. For a bright, wide-awake look, I used an angled brush, dipped it in white eyeliner and lined the bottom lash line.” – Make-Up Artist, Courtney D.

[Glam] Trend Spotting

May 13, 2012 in Glam: Style & Trends, Streetlight

{Over-sized Knit, Primark} {Leopard Print Wedges, River Island} {Navy Purse, H&M} {Ridged Leggings, Nicole Miller}

Well, May sure isn’t shying away from living-up to its legendary weather forecasting rhyme. These sudden cool dips in temperature and showers call for a comfy, over-sized knit and a little splash of color!  Put aside your strappy sandals and flats that will drown in the puddles – a wedge will work well with the water. Oh, and my word of advice? Take the umbrella…just in case.

[Glam] Mint Condition

May 1, 2012 in Glam: Style & Trends

This  pastel hue has been the biggest hit of the season.

Inspired by our favorites from the spring 2012 runway,

we can’t get enough of this sudden tidal wave of sea foam green.

2 scoops of mint please!

Let’s cool it down…

{Glam} Out of the Blue

February 24, 2012 in Glam: Style & Trends

It was gorgeously beautiful yesterday. Sunny rays, unusual February warmth, students frolicking happily on the streets…all signs clearly evidencing to the conclusion that global warming-like winters > than blizzardy snowapocolypses.

Look at it this way…would you rather have salt stains damaging your new Christmas boots or an innocent, (look at me having fun in the sun) grass stain?  No answer necessary.

RIP Winter Boots due to sodium damage year 2009, 2010, 2011…

I love street styles on a sunny day. You Ladies and Gents take that extra time to spiff up, put a little flare, that special touch on your outfit to match the joy the great weather brings. For the first time in a while, a Pittsburgh Thursday wasn’t just bombarded with monotonous  black peacoats and Antarctica-ready, utility style jackets. And, it’s slightly different than a normal spring day because, no one expects it!

It’s just …out of the blue.

I wore a deep blue Top Shop dress, an older leather jacket, jewelry from H&M, knee-highs from Urban Outfitters, and vintage, designer shades passed on to me by my mother.

Enjoy the day!

XOXO,

{Graffiti} H&M/ Versace Collaboration, Printed in Papers Everywhere

November 23, 2011 in Graffiti: Arts & Culture, News

I know you have seen it. You have probably read the stories of the endless queues, filled with anxious and curious Fashionistas wrapped around the corners of H&Ms worldwide. Maybe you WERE one of those die-hard Fashionistas in the queue eagerly trying to get a sneak peek of the A-list launch party celebs and Donatella herself. Or, perhaps you are trying to avoid the weird, printed collection that keeps popping-up everywhere.

Despite how you have heard about it, Versace’s collaboration with H&M is what everyone has been talking about. What style, what brilliant designs, what stunning colors! But, the question is: a week later, now that it is making itself comfortable on the clothing racks, photographer’s light bulbs have disappeared, and the spotlight is slowly moving on to the next big thing…

…will you buy it?

This line is very specific to taste. Visiting the H&M on Regent Street in Piccadilly during my lunch break, the venue which hosted the mecca of the London launch, I stared at the window display as if it was a modern art exhibit…head tilted, my brow furrowed…trying to picture myself in such a loud and exuberant splash of colors of fringe, hearts, and silk.

This is fashionable. This is Donatella we are speaking of here…I should like it…

In the end, despite my immediate quizzical opinion on color choices, I have decided I do in fact like the line. Not specifically for how it is worked on the runway that seems to create a 90’s clash of exotic prints that makes my eyes water, but for each piece and how it can transform your everyday look. Wearing the bright colors certainly makes you forget that it is the start of winter season. The Miami prints are fun and perfect for a night out on the town!

Versace knows that wearing their collection from head-to-toe will not be how the average woman will choose to wear it. Donatella and H&M believe that this is an amazing opportunity to let every woman try Versace’s best looks at a more reasonable price for the same quality and design.

Interested in the collection, but hesitant about strutting it on the street? Take a look at the style advice below to start building that smart and sexy ensemble. Good luck!

These two eye-catching dresses are perfect by themselves. Bright and sexy, they are perfectly form fitting, designed to bring out your best features. I love the elegant embellishments on the pink and the edgy shoulders on the multi-color.

These pieces are my favorite by far. I love the studded detail and the intricate centered design.

Whether with a black mini or black jeans, I can’t wait to rock this on a night out.

The sleeveless shirt could be layered with a black blazer for a smart and stylish office look too.

.XOXO.
