What are your plans this Valentine’s Day? How are you spreading the love? For this love struck fashion blogger, this is my first real Valentine’s Day…and he has kept our plans all secret! Not fair! I love the surprise and never really want to figure out the secret,  but the Nancy Drew Detective in me wants to solve the mystery! Trust me though, whatever it may be, I will be blushing. It’s nice to be spoiled, loved, and cared about once and a while. Even if it that means treating yourself!

{Graffiti} Rent the Runway Struts to Pittsburgh!

Drooling over the new Badgley Mischka gown in the October issue of Vogue? Willing to give up your daily Starbucks lattes for a year to nab a Sachin + Babi party dress for New Years weekend? Fear no more! Rent-the-Runway has your back…and your closet. ;)  

I first heard of Rent-the-Runway in 2010, a mere, unfortunate year after my senior prom when I wish that my empty wallet could afford a gorgeous gown for my special night. (I ended up just fine, but I wish I knew of this site!) The two Harvard Business School founders, Jennifer Hyman and Jennifer Carter Fleiss had the right idea from the start. Why pay for a smashing dress that you may only wear once or twice, when you could rent it? Sound like your cup of tea? Then keep on reading Fashionista! 

Rent-the-Runway is a member-based only site that allows thrifty Fashionistas to wear the dress they have always dreamed of. Socially conscious,  the internet start-up has recently launched a new shopping feature called “Our Runway” that allows women to shop using real women as models that mimic their body type with similar proportions. The New York Times shared their opinion of the no-Photoshop initiative in their article “High Fashion, No Airbrushing.” 

In the Pittsburgh area? Have I got news for you. Rent-the-Runway is traveling to Pittsburgh and is holding an exclusive trunk show! Partnering with Her Campus Pitt, this sartorial event will be held Thursday, November 29th at 7:30 pm. This girls night out will not only give you a sneak-peek at the best looks for the season, but also help raise money for girls’ education in developing nations. Philanthropic Fashion? I’m in! I really enjoyed taking the time to read all of the comments for what made your Valentine’s Day special to you. Whether it was flowers for your mom, surprise chocolate at your door, or a devoted night to spend time with your best girlfriends filled with chick flicks and indulging in Nutella, you all have really proved how just a little love can go a long way to make just an ordinary day, a day to cherish.
