{Glam} What to Wear on a First Date: Summer Edition
July 25, 2012 in Glam: Style & Trends
Reader Question: “I have an upcoming date that falls at the end of the summer where I will be picking-up a guy/ friend at the airport. The challenge is that I want to look extra cute because he is a potential boyfriend!
What should I wear?
GG: How exciting! I can understand the delicate dynamic of wanting to look effortlessly cute and battling between two style seasons, all while making him fall for you! Let’s see…
The Style Breakdown:
Look 1: This Spring/ Summer there was a consistent nod to floral dresses. Pair the popular trend with a bright, tribal inspired, poppy red with a structured fit and you can’t go wrong. Complete the look with your choice of an earthy-toned pair of Toms or a tawny, wide-strapped sandal.
Look 2: Airy, flouncy, and bohemian, I love this small-detailed, printed dress. Leave it to retro ModCloth to offer a cute shoulder design that is feminine, yet practical. Depending on the day or night’s activities, go for simple comfort or play it up in a low-heeled, western bootie.
Look 3: One of my best go-to pieces for a night-out that has made a recent appearance on Glam and Graffiti, this black, chiffon maxi dress is a timeless classic and easy-to-wear. Rock it with a black gladiator or be fashion-forward and pick a thin, neon strapped sandal.
Look 4: Let’s break-down our maxi dress and mix a few things-up! Keep it casual with a full black maxi skirt, but pair it with a lace white top. Let your toes peep-out with a dose of color in either rusty red flats or neon!
From Summer to Fall: This AEO Denim Jacket is your answer. With every look, this must-have item is the solution to every cool breeze to complete your outfit.

Jewelry: Keep it simple on the first date…your favorite watch, your go-to gold stud earrings, and maybe the necklace you wear everyday.
Beauty: You have heard it plenty of times before, less IS more. Wear an amount of make-up that you feel comfortable in. Keep the eyeliner light, stay-clear from colored eye-shadows, add an extra layer of curling mascara, lightly spritz your everyday perfume, and stash a berry lip gloss in your purse. TIP: Pick-up a few oil-blotting sheets for last minute shine! Life-savers.
*Note: All pieces can be found for around $50 or less and each look celebrates women of every figure.
I hope this helps! Good luck Fashionista! Go get ‘em.
