I’m getting into the Valentine’s Day weekend spirit by kicking if off with cozy layers (-13 windchill…-13!), eating every piece of chocolate and sugar I can find, and a bottle of red. (Can this become a new habit?) This year my beau and I decided to make plans tonight instead of Sunday to skip the crowd, and we’re headed to one of the dinner recommendations from a previous post!
I love Valentine’s Day (despite the stigma). It’s one of the only Holiday’s where couples/singles have the opportunity to decide how to celebrate their own love. One year perhaps it’s the Hallmark chocolates and flowers; another it may be a meal cooked at home together and a Netflix queue prepared to binge watch the entire second season of House of Cards.
It’s also a time to celebrate your girlfriends, your sisters, or your mum! Galentine’s Day, according to Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation is February 13th. Take the time to meet your besties for brunch or schedule a girls night in. Cheers to strong women who look to empower other women around them! (Or, as Leslie says, “Ladies celebrating ladies!”)
Last but not least, Valentine’s Day is always the perfect reminder to love yourself. Believe in yourself. And, be patient with yourself…you’re accomplishing a lot!
