September 12, 2012 in Glam: Style & Trends
As the lights began to dim, the pre-show chatter started to slow, and the paparazzi refocused their cameras from the stunning celebrities to the center of the runway, two women seated to my left quickly exchanged a few words.
“What do you think she will focus on for Spring? I need inspiration and an outfit to wear to my Birthday next year.”
“You know, I am not sure…but, you can bet it will be spectacular.”
As if to prophesize the women’s musings, the music started and an unexpected tye-dye light filter hit the stage with a bang. This was going to be quite the show.
American designer, Nicole Miller, showcased her Spring 2013 Collection at the Studio Lincoln Center on September 7th. The theme? “Batteries Not Included.” Hmm, interesting name…maybe it was because the energy and voltage on the runway the voltage was turned way up! With eclectic, juxtaposing patterns and psychedelic colors, the audience loved the unique, but wearable pieces.
With minimal make-up, the models gleamed underneath the spotlight. Their hair was swept back and cut sharply with a straight edge. Each model delivered profound movement and walked with conviction to the beat of the music provided by The Misshapes.
I, and the audience, fell in love with the tye-dye streaks above.
It was the perfect finishing touch to the line-up.
As Nicole came out for her finale bow, the audience burst into applause. And, as if to fulfill their needs and complete their evening, the woman to my left turned again to her friend and shook her head.
“That, was spectacular.”
Congrats Nicole Miller! Beautiful show.
